During the war between the Estense Duchy and the Republic of Venice the main water course of the Po River was diverted and the Primaro Po became a drainage and irrigation canal for the surrounding fields.
This change transformed the whole area into fertile agricultural ground, especially suited to fruit growing.
The Rochetta was built in 1760 on the edge of the Marrara valley at the source of the right branch of the river Po, the Po di Primaro, and over the years became a farm.
The La Rocchetta Holiday Farmhouse was founded by Franca and Romano who decided that the time had come to propose a return to traditional values and Nature in a world where the natural cycle of the seasons is ignored and the culture of our fathers? and grandfathers? is being forgotten. This desire to return to life's simple pleasures is not an attempt to relive memories but to rediscover the complexity of our history thus making the farm into a kind of bridge between the past and the future
At the La Rochetta Holiday Farmhouse you can try; the traditional local delicacies made according to the original recipes and using organic home grown produce. You will be met with cordiality and you will be able to enjoy all the of the following; tranquillity, Nature, animals, flowers, aromatic and medicinal herbs, a play area, a sports area, picturesque bicycle routes and visits to the beautiful city of Ferrara. The Rochetta is the ideal base from which to visit the whole Po Delta territory including the enchanting town of Commachio, the Pomposa Abbey and the historical Estense family summer retreats. All our proposals are offered with the love for a job that allows us to meet lots of interesting people, share our traditions, our experience and, why not, even our fog.
From season 2006, your summer will be refreshing at farmhouse La Rocchetta, for our guests stays at their disposal a large swimming pool merged in the wild nature.
